My Heaven on Earth
Close your eyes. Imagine
being surrounded by fresh flowers of every color. Feel the soft grass between your toes. Hear
the sound of the water running over the old mill. Welcome to my heaven on
earth, Mill Creek Park. I have always felt very at peace in nature. My soul
thrives amid the daisies, roses, and trees. At Mill Creek, I can be free. All
the stress and worries melt away when I walk by the mill. The gardens clear my
mind and make me feel perfectly happy. I would never leave there if I could. I
love walking through the woods to go see the mill still turning since 1845. Looking
out over the water from the pier is so relaxing, but my favorite part of Mill
Creek is the gardens. I would stop and smell every last rose, lavender, daisy,
marigold, petunia, and tulip. Each flower has a unique color and pattern. The
silky petals glide across my fingers as I memorize every shade of color on a
flower. Nothing is better than lying in the grass completely surrounded by
flowers everywhere you turn. I feel so at peace when I get to go to, Mill Creek
is very sentimental to me. It is one of the few memories I have of my birth
town, Youngstown, Ohio. I can hardly remember my house. I don’t remember my
school, but every time I think about Mill Creek I can remember everything. I
can remember small details. I remember racing my brother up and down the lawn
surrounded by skyscraper trees. I can remember the time I fell into the
fountain trying to feel the ice cold water. I hated the day we moved away. I am
happy in Reynoldsburg; I have tons of friends and love my school, but it’s not
the same feeling I used to get at Mill Creek. I haven’t been back to Mill Creek
Park in several years. Even after all this time, Mill Creek still is my
personal heaven on earth.
